Abstract
In Egypt, which has one of the fastest developing construction markets in Middle
East, it is very important to estimate the cost of quality of these projects. The objective
of this paper is to estimate the cost of quality and determine its optimum values in the
Egyptian construction projects by applying the conformance-nonconformance (CNC)
model to water structures projects. The research showed that the actual cost of quality
(COQ) value represents 1.54% of the entire project cost and that the optimal quality
cost value was calculated to be 1.99% of the entire quality cost. On the other hand,
conformance cost of quality was found to be 1.10% and nonconformance cost of quality
was found to be 0.44% of the total project cost.
