Abstract
The present study investigated the effect of inderal ( a nonselective B-blocker ) & atenolol ( A cardioselective B-blocker ) on fasting serum glucose level & serum glucose response to subcutaneous insulin in rats. Both types of B-blockers did not affect the fasting serum glucose level. Inderal did not affect the drop in blood glucose 30 minutes after insulin injection. However, in inderal pretreated rats, the insulin-induced hypoglycaemia was progres sive during the first hour & only one rat survived till the end of the second hour.
