Abstract
In this paper analytical expressions for transient current components following starting of a 3-phase induction motor from a voltage-source inverter are derived. The variation of the speed throughout the starting period is taken into consideration. To check the validity of the analytical method presented, the overall transient current for a 0.75 kW motor was obtained from the analytical method and compared-with experimental results, and close agreement was obtained.
