Abstract

This paper presents a method for predicting the transient and steady-state performance of thyristor-controlled The paper presents a method for predicting the transient and steady-state performance of thyristor-controlled universal motors. The transient and steady-state performance were evaluated for a controlled d.c. supply and controlled a.c. supply. The effect of the triggering angle on the performance was also investigated. Transient components of torque and current are obtained. Experimental results obtained for a laboratory motor showed close agreement with theoretical results.
