Abstract
A simple analytical method for determining the cutoff angle when an inverse-parallel thyristor pair, or a triac, with symmetrical triggering is used to control the power fed to a single-phase inductive load is presented. Consequently analytical expressions for the voltage and current are derived. The results chained from Using these expressions show close agreement with results obtained from iterative numerical solutions.
