Abstract
This paper presents a complete analysis for the electromechanical wave propagation, which follows a disturbance in the one-dimensional ring power system model. Theanalysis is taken from the transmission lines impedance (admittance) point of view.
To illustrate the phenomenon of propagating electromechanical waves in the continuum system, the power system model was discretized and simulated using the MATLAB package. Some of the wave propagation parameters, like speed of propagation, are calculated from the program. Simulation results in different situations are presented and discussed. Also, the effects of electromechanical wave propagation on control and protection systems are stated in this paper.
