الملخص
The open hole well log data (BHC, FDC, CNL, DLL and GR) of five wells (Sultan-1, Ashour-1, Lotus-1X, IG-24-2, Bardy-1X and IF-24-1) of East Khalda concession are utilized to identify the source rocks in the study area as well as the determination of organic carbon content of Abu Roash “G” Member and Bahariya Formation.
In this study the porosity/resistivity overlay technique is used to differentiate the source and non-source rocks, moreover, organo-source analysis of the studied rock units take place to illustrate the vertical distribution of the total organic carbon content (TOC), total organic matter (TORG) and the discriminate factor (D.F.). The results of the study area revealed that the Abu Roash “G” Member contains fair amounts of organic carbon, while Bahariya Formation contains good amounts of organic carbon, also, it was found that Abu Roash “G” Member is a non-source rock in most of the studied wells, while Bahariya Formation is considered as a source rock in most of the studied wells.
