Abstract
Progress have been made into optimization of the Spiral Wound Heat Exchanger (SWHE) for use in LNG production plants. A simulation was built using MATLAB, which is integrated with the Excel spreadsheet and Aspen HYSYS. As an initial validation step we have compared the experimental results with the simulated outcomes. Focus was given to comparing the heat transfer coefficient for flow inside the outer shell as well as other dimensionless properties.
