Abstract

Two field experiments were conducted at Agricultural Research and Experiment Center, Faculty of Agric., at Mosh— tohor, Kalubia Governorate, Egypt, during 1989 and 1990 sea sons. The aim of this investigation was to study the effect of seed soaking in zinc solution (0,2 &4 gm zinc sulphate per liter water) and irrigation intervals (every 10, 15, 20 & 25 days), on yield, yield components and fiber properties of Giza 75 cotton. The results indicated that seed cotton and lint yields per feddan significantly decreased in one season out of two, due to shortening irrigation intervals down to 10 days. Fiber strength as gram/tex, significantly decreased due to excessive irrigation (10 day intervals)in both seasons. Boll weight, lint percentage, seed index, fiber maturity and fineness, fiber colour and fiber grade index were not affected by seed soaking in zinc solution, irrigation inter vals or their interaction. .
