Abstract
The photovoltaicperformanceofalloyedCdTexS1x quantumdots(QDs)sensitizedsolar
cells(QDSSCs)asafunctionoftuningthebandgapofalloyedCdTexS1x QDs isstudied.
The tuningofbandgapwascarriedoutthroughcontrollingthemolarratio(x) ofQDs.
PresynthesizedalloyedCdTexS1x QDs ofdifferent x values(0,0.2,0.4,0.6,0.8,and1)
were depositedbydirectadsorption(DA)techniqueontoalayerofTiO2 nanoparticles
(NPs)toserveassensitizersforthesolarcells.Thecharacteristicparametersofthe
assembledQDSSCsweremeasuredunderAM1.5sunillumination,andshowthat
CdTexS1x QDs hasbetterphotovoltaicperformancethanpureCdTeQDsorCdSQDs.
The maximumvaluesof Jsc (1.54mA/cm2) and η (0.31%)wereobtainedfor x¼0.6.
However,Theopencircuitvoltages(Voc) approximatelyconstant(0.4670.02V)forall
alloyedCdTexS1x QDSSCs. Itisonlydictatedbytheconductionband(CB)levelofTiO2
nanoparticles(NPs)andthevalanceband(VB)oftheelectrolyte.
