Abstract
Type I diabetes is considered to be an autoimmune disorder which occurs when the immune system
attacks the body’s own tissues and organs. In the present study, patients were divided into four groups
according to their health state with five patients each. In addition to a normal group which represents
healthy individuals. Blood samples were collected from each individual in the five groups to determine
blood glucose, serum total bilirubin, direct bilirubin, albumin, total protein, ALT, AST, urea and uric
acid were measured in each sample. The results showed that all biochemical parameters were around
the normal levels. Whereas, the HLA-DQA1 exon2 gene of the four studied groups were mutated
when compared to the normal and NCBI reference.
