Abstract

Aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of counseling on coping and outcome of women with vaginal infection.Quasi-experimental study design was used. Setting: obstetrics & gynecology outpatient clinic at Benha university hospital .The sample: purposive sample that consist of one hundered and ten women were recruited with the following inclusion criteria: women of any age and at least can read &write.Tools of data collection: two tools were used: Interviewing questionnaire including knowledge and reported practices assessment sheet, modified likert scale Results: there was highly significant correlation between women`s knowledge, reported practices and attitude and recovery outcome of vaginal infection after counseling. There was highly statistically significant correlation (p< 0.001) between total knowledge and attitude scores as well as total knowledge and reported practice scores after counseling compared to pre-counseling . Conclusion: women's knowledge, attitude and reported practices regarding vaginal infection was deficient pre-counseling. Counseling program had a positive effect on women's knowledge, coping attitude and reported practices ,hence affect directly on recovery outcome. Recommendation: Developing a program that enhance the women`s retained knowledge ,reported practices regarding vaginal infection.
