The current goal of the computational linguistics is to produce a comprehensive computational theory of language understanding that is well-defined and linguistically motivated. Constructing such a computational theory would be an important initial step in producing a cognitively correct theory, as the computational theory could serve a starting point for experimental testing and could lead to modified theories accounting for experimental evidence. The systems based on computational linguistics require the semantic representation for the natural language.
