Abstract

This paper presents a new and innovative system for understanding Arabic language sentences. The approach was to develop a new model for representing Arabic grammar rules, Meta-Language, to be more suitable for handling its exceptions, and to build a customized Compiler for this developed model. It is considered as Modified Grammar Model Compiler (MGMC). Consequently, the operational system consists of two main parts: MGMC, and the grammar rules that define the surface and deep structures of the Arabic language phrases and words. The MGMC is capable of simulating any Context Sensitive Grammar (CSG) despite the fact that it is Context Free Grammar (CFG) based model. This was achieved by enabling it to compare arguments, inherit attributes, and match patterns within the rules. This system was developed using Visual Basic and Microsoft Access in such a way that there could never be any ambiguity or confusion when used with its Arabic simple interface. The system has been tested over a wide Variety of Arabic phrases and in each case, the results were faultless, 100% correct.
