Abstract

The hair follicle development undergoes several stages including, undifferentiated epithelium, hair placode, hair germ, hair peg, bulbous peg and mature follicle. The present study was carried out by generating LacZ- reporter mice using CRISPR/Cas9 system to identify K79 expression during hair follicles morphogenesis. K79 started to be expressed at hair placode at E14.5 but wide range of K79 expression in the whiskers, dorsal & ventral midline, ventral aspect of trunk & neck, leg and genital tubercle at hair peg stage at E16.5. The present study showed that K79 was expressed in the upper layer of hair placode. It was expressed in the suprabasal cells at the hair germ stage at E15.5. Moreover, K79 was also expressed also in the infundibulum cells (CL & IRS) at the hair peg stage at E16.5.
