Background: Ischemic stroke remains a major health care problem and a leading cause of morbidity and mortality. Depression is a major cause of morbidity in stroke patients. Patients with post stroke depression have lower functional status, increased cognitive impairment and higher mortality rates than stroke patients without depression. Aim of the study: To assess the incidence of depression in patients of ischemic cerebrovascular stroke.. Methods and Results: In this case control study, eighty CVIS patients (45 males & 35 females) and eighty age matched control subjects were recruited for this study.
