Abstract
Eight new Schiff base compounds based on 1,3,5-triazine were synthesized and their molecular structures were characterized by elemental analysis, Electronic spectra, IR and 1HNMR spectra. The spectral behavior of the newly prepared compounds in organic solvents of different polarities was extensively studied and also correlated to the molecular structure. In addition, the acid ionization constants of the compounds were determined by studying the absorption spectra in mixed universal buffer solutions of different pH’s with 30% of ethanol and correlated to the molecular structure. The ligands were screened for antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Aspergillus flavus, Candida albicans Fungicidal activity and the bacterial strains was tested.
