Abstract

In the present study, the machinability of nickel particulates reinforced AA6063 Al-based alloy is evaluated. The Ni particulates are introduced to AA6063 alloy using stir casting technique followed by squeezing process under different fabrication pressures. The effect of Ni content as well as the applied pressures during the fabrication process on the machining characteristics of the composites is established. The effects of the Ni particles content on the cutting forces, tool life, hardness, ultimate tensile strength, and surface roughness were studied.
