Abstract
50 children suffering from repeated otitis media were selected as patient group and 25 childre apparently free were selected as control group. Patients group was subjected to ear swabs to be cultured aerobic and anaerobic. Blood sample were taken from both groups to estimate Ig M,G1-2-3-4,A and antibodies against Streptococcus Pneumonia polysaccharide . Results : 50% of aerobic culture was positive ( 30% Streptococcus Pneumonia, 16% Hemophilus influenza and 4% streptococci),while all anaerobic cultures were negative. Ig G,M and A were normal in both groups but IgG 1 ,2 and antibodies against Streptococcus Pneumonia polysaccharide were low in the patient group . Conclusion : we have to avoid predisposing factors of otitis media like breast feeding less than 6 months and smoking in houses also estimation ofIgG1and2 is essential espically in unexplained repeated otitis media.
