Abstract
Thirty patients with chronic renal failure (10 on conservative measures and 20 on regu¬lar hcmodialysis) and 10 well-matched healthy volunteers comprised the subjects of our study. All of them were subjected to a thorough history taking, clinical examination, an-thropometric measurements to assess the nutritional status and the following laboratory in¬vestigations : Plasma fibronectin level, scrum creatinine, scrum urea, serum albumin, BT, PT, PC. PTT & FDPs
Our work showced that CRF significantly decreased plasma FN level, but hemodialysis had no significant effect on it. It was evident that CRF had a significant impact on the nu¬tritional status and the abnormal protein metabolism could explain at least partly the low plasma FN level in urcmic patients. We also found that both renal failure and hcmodialysis had a significant effect on hemostasis and the low plasma FN may be a factor resporsible for banormal hemostasis in urcmic patients .
