Abstract

The production of nonionic surfactants, the hydroxyl ethylation does not result in uniform product, in consequence of consecutive, competitive reaction sequences a mixture of oligomer homologous compounds originates. But the distribution constants of the equations describing the composition and the molecular mass distribution are not real constants, because they depend on the average hydroxyl ethylation grade. This phenomenon was named by us Weibull-Tornquist effect, and was attributed to the complex building effect of the originating oligo ethylene glycol mono ether. The phenomenon can be used for accelerating the hydroxyl ethylation.
