Abstract
A series oh hydroxypropylated surfactant was prepared from three precorsors (benzyl, beta-phenylethyl and gama-henylpropyl ) alcohols by using base catalyst (NaOH) and Lewis acid catalyst (SnCl5) respectively. The prepared hydroxypropylated compounds were sulphated to give anionic surfactant. the structures of the prepared surfactants were confirmed by IR and 1HNMR spectra. the surface properties of sulphated products were evaluated. In this sequences the results indicated that surface active properties of the new anionic surfactants are improved by increasing hydrophilicity in the starting material.
