Abstract
Series of amphoteric surface active agents were prepared by the reaction of N-acyl -N,N-dimethylethylene diamine of pure [ octanoic C8-0, dodecanoic C12-0, tetradecanoic C14-0,hexadecanoic C16-0, octadecanoic C18-0, 9-octadecenoic C18:1 acids and mixed fatty acids extracted from Gawafa seeds] with 3-chloro-2-hydroxypropane sulfate , chloroacetic acid and hydrogen peroxide to produce amino sulfobetaine, aminobetaine and amino oxide respectively. The structure of the prepared surface active agents were confirmed by micro-analysis, IR and 1HNMR spectra. Also, the surface active and biodegradability properties of the prepared compounds were evaluated and studied.
