Abstract
The prese~t investigation was conducted at Shandweel Agricultural Experiment Station to study the inheritance of plant height, plant grain yield, ear-length and ear-width in three crosses of Sorghum, (Martin A x G-15), CK 60A x G-54) and (Ms 605 x L29/62). Plant height was controlled by 2-4 pairs of genes with mostly additive nature. Heritability fo~ this character varied from 85- 90%, indicating the effectiveness of selection. Plant grain yield was controlled by one major gene with some modifiers with additive nature in two crosses and multiplicative in (Hartin A x G-l5). Heritability percentage ranged from 58 - 92%. Ear-length showed overdominance in Fl. One pair of major genes governed this character showing botfi types of gene action. Heritability ranged from 53 - 72%. Ear-width was controlled by number of genes varied from (2-5) with more additive than multiplicative gene action. Heritability was low shOWing the ineffectiveness of selection of this character.
