Abstract
Seashell has become one of the most significant aquaculture wastes. In this work clam shell derived from
local market was used as adsorbent for removal of Cu2+ heavy metal ion from aqueous solution at different
temperature and initial solution pH of 5. The shell was characterized using XRD, SEM and FTIR
spectroscopy. The Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption isotherms models were found to be useful for
describing the equilibrium adsorption system. The monolayer saturation capacities calculated according to
the Langmuir adsorption isotherm were given to be 6.37-13.58 meq g-

C. The adsorption kinetics
showed that the adsorption process can be well described with the pseudo-first order model.
