Abstract
In this paper, a closed-form solution of the performance of a three-phase voltage-source, six-step inverter feeding a three-phase static inductive load is presented. Analytical expressions for the steady-state currents of the system are derived from which the performance of the system can be investigated. Explicit formula for the current ratings of the switching elements, whether thyristors, transistors or diodes used in the system are derived.
