Abstract

This paper describes digital implementation of robust multivariable linear quadratic gaussian controllers for variable speed self-controlled synchronous motor drives. The motor terminal voltages are utilized to synchronize the inverter triggering pulses. The controller is implemented using a 16-bit 8086 based microcomputer system. The closed loop system performance is studied to verify the design concepts. Simple methodology for improving power/energy efficiency is presented.
