Abstract

Cationization of cotton/wool and viscose/polyamide blended fabrics is carried out using four different cationising agents either through padding treatments prior to printing or by addition to the printing pastes to impart cationic sites on fabric surface for improving their substantivity to reactive dyes. In both cases, major improvements in colour depth as well as fastness properties are observed. The various parameters and measurements affecting the results are investigated in detail. Key words: Reactive dyes – cationization – fastness properties – printability –K/S values.
