Abstract
The aim of this research is to study the properties and behavior of concrete made by different types of coarse aggregate. The different types of these aggregates are, siliceous gravel, basalt , and crushed lime stone (dolomite). The experimental work carried out includes, besides the coarse aggregate as a variable, three values of water cement ratio (w/c) which were 0.45, 0.50, and 0.55. The properties measured were the concrete compressive strength at different ages, the flexural strength , and the indirect splitting tensile strength. Thirty six reinforced concrete beams were cast to study the behavior of produced concrete as a reinforced elements. All beams have the same dimensions (10x10x80 cm) and with two percentages of steel. The experimental results show good behavior of concrete made by basalt and crushed lime stone as aggregate besides the siliceous gravel which is commonly used in Egypt.
