Upper Cenomanian-Lower Santonian ammonites from Galala Plateaux, north eastern desert, Egypt: a systematic paleontology

Abstract
Seventeen ammonite species are identified and systematically described from the Upper Cretaceous successions exposed at Abu Darag (Northern Galala), Saint Paul, and Wadi El Dakhl sections (Southern Galala). The studied ammonites belong to 13 genera, 7 families, and 2 superfamilies. Three species are recorded for the first time from Egypt; Thomelites sornayi (Thomel) from the lower Upper Cenomanian of the studied sections, Vascoceras glabrum (Barber) from the upper Upper Cenomanian of Saint Paul, and Wrightoceras munieri (Pervinquière) from the Lower Turonian of the three sections. The studied fauna are considered of typical Tethyan affinity.
