Abstract
Soilcontaminationwithtoxicenvironmentalpollutants[suchascadmium(Cd)]isbecomingaseriousglobalproblemduetorapiddevelopmentofsocialeconomy.Toimprovethegrowthandyieldofaplant,variouschelatingagents,suchasethylenediaminetetraaceticacid(EDTA)andcitricacid(CA),canbeappliedtothesoil;suchapplicationnotonlyincreasesplantuptakeofmetalsfromthesoilbutalsopromotesplantabsorp-tionofmicronutrientfertilizersfromthemedium.Forthispurpose,wehaveconductedapotexperimentusingtheexogenousapplicationofCA(2.5mM)andEDTA(2.5mM)inpepper(CapsicumannuumL.)seed-lingsgrownunderthevaryinglevelsofCd(0,50and100mM)inthesoil.M].OurresultsdepictedthatCdadditiontothesoilsignificantly(P
