Abstract
Introduction Patients' rights (PR) means a set of rights that an individual has in the healthcare organizations that ensure that they receive ethical treatment and high quality of care. PR became an important topic in healthcare practices worldwide and essential for providing high quality care.
Objectives: To assess the knowledge and practices of physicians working in Benha University Hospitals (BUH) about PR.
Subjects and Methods: This was a comparative cross-sectional study. Data were gathered using a questionnaire which was filled out by an interviewer for the patients and self-administered for physicians. The questionnaire included questions about respondents' demographics, and 20 questions concerning PR. Overall, 231 participants were physicians and 300 patients.
Results: About 97.0% of the physicians showed satisfactory score of knowledge about PR, while 85.3% of them showed inadequate score of practices of PR from patients’ point of view. There is statistically significant difference between score of knowledge and practices of PR (p
