Abstract

In the current study samples of Musca domestica, the common house flies were collected from Wadi Eldawser at different urban and rural locations namely: Salheah, Elwalamin, Alkhamasin, Elsulayel and Tathleth during (January 2010 till January 2011). A total of 640 house flies were collected to isolate microorganism, 402 (62.8%) of the examined flies was found to be positive. Simplest tests and kits for microbiological identifications were used to determine the pathogenic agents carried externally and internally by the positive collected flies. Most flies were found to carry different pathogens: six fungi species, eight protozoan and five helminthic species. Identified pathogens were the fungi Candida albicans (49.6%),Candida tropicalis (26.5%), C. krusei (17.0%), C. parapsil (3.4%), C. glabrata (2.0%) and the least one was C. dubliniesis (1.5%).Giardia lamblia (23)were found to be the highest protozoan enteric human pathogens, the other pathogens were Entamoeba histlotica (18), Entamoebacoli (16), Entamoeba dispar (14), Entamoeba hartmanni(5), Endolimax nana(7), Iodamoeba butshlii (4) and Cryptosporidium sp. was found once a time. Among the isolated helminths eggs were those of Ancylostoma duodenale (23), Hymenolepis nana(11), Taenia species (5), Trichuris trichiura (4), Strongyloides(2) but no Ascaris lumbricoides ovum was found. Most of the isolated pathogens species could be found in both cold and warm season. .
