Abstract
Three field cwcrimcnts were carried out during 19)(X. l91t9 and l990
seasons at Sakha Agricultural Research Station. Kafr El-Shcikh Govcrnoratc
Egypt. Thc aim of this investigation was to study the cŒect of water stress, some
maiie cultivars and ؟inc sulphate as foliar application on yield, yield
components and chemical analysis in maize grains. The expcri mental design
was split-split plot with lotir replications. The results could be summari,ed as
follows:
The average values of plants carried more than one car percentage. car
length, car diameter. car weight. number of rows/ear. number of grains/row.
100-grain weight. grain yield per plant and per feddan significanth decreased by
increasing the depletion of available soil moisture up to 80°/. in combined
analysis. On the other hand, the percentage of late wilt disease significantly
increased by increasing the depiction of available moisture, irrigation after 40%
depletion in available water gave the lowest protein % and the highest protein
yieldlfeddan. oil % oil yleld/feddan and zinc content in grains of maize T WC
310 cultivar gave the highest values of the percentage of plants earned norc than
one ear, ear length. car weight. number of grains/row. IOU-grain weight. grain
yield per plant and per feddan. protein and oil yicld/fcddan and ؟inc content
when compared with the other cultivars, Gua 2 cultivar gave the highest
percentage of infection with late wilt disease than other cukivars Whereas
Karnak cultivar gave the maximum ear diameter, number of rows/ear, protein
and oil percentage ingrains of maize The mean values of ear length, ear weight.
100-grain weight. grain yield per plant and per fcddan straw yield, protein
yield, oil percentage and oil yicld/feddan were increased when received 0.3%
zinc sulphate. but the other characters of yield components were not significantl
affected, The mean values of infection with late wilt disease percentage
significantly increased b increasing level of ‘inc sulphate up to 06%
The interaction between خ W ( 110 with the application of 0 6% ؟inc
sulphate gave the highest mean alues of 100-grain weight. grain yield per plant
and per feddan Also the interaction bctw’cen imgation after 40/.depleuon in
available water with T W C’ lB) and applying 0 6% ى.inc sulphate as foliar gave
the highest mean talucs of number of grains/row protein and oil 4icldlfcddan
Significant positite correlation values were detected between grain vield/feddan
