Abstract
Soil mites in wheat fields were surveyed in Qualubia Governorate, Egypt, during the season 1993. The encountered mites was belonging to five systematic groups.These are:Cryptostigmata, Prostigmata, Mesostigmata, Asti gmata and Heterostigmata.The density of soil acari reached the maxima in March and May with average of 105 and 222 individuals/bOO cc soil respectively. Cryptostigmata not only occurred in great abundace but also dominated other acari groups in number since it contributed 33.9% of all numbers of acari, while Prostigmata constituted 31.9%, Mesostigmata (13.2%), Astigmata (11.2%) and Heterostigrnata (9. 7g).
