Abstract

The use of academic electronic health records and reports enable students to benefit from learning opportunities in areas such as navigation of technology, patient assessment, decision making, and documentation proficiency.The study aimed at designing electronic clinical administrative records and reports for fourth year nursing students at Faculty of Nursing,Benha University.The included subjects were allavailablefourth year nursing students who enrolled in nursing administration course in the second semester 2013/ 2014 at Faculty of Nursing, Benha University (n = 60nursing students). Tools usedfor data collection were; Knowledge questionnaire sheet, Observational checklist for student performance and Student opinionnaire sheet. The study results showed that, the highest percent of the studied nursing students were agreed for using electronic records and reports at the end of the training program. The training program was effective i.e. there was general improvement in students' knowledge about electronic clinical administrative records and reports after exposure to the training program as compared to pre-program phase, and there was improvement in student performance at post- intervention phase. The study recommended, Integration of the designed electronic records and reports into nursing administration course to be used by nursing students, and conducting continuous training programs for teaching staff members about information technology and how to design electronic courses by experts in this field.
