Aminoalkylation of a series of primary and secondary nitriles with N-(a-aminoalkyl)benzotriazoles 1 (derived from a
variety of secondary amines and aldehydes) proceeds smoothly providing the corresponding b-aminoalkyl nitriles 5a–j in 66–97%
