Abstract
Background: Arthrofibrosis is a difficult problem leading to chronic knee pain and limited recovery of range of motion.
Patient and method: From February 2014 until march 2017 eleven patients presented with postoperative arthrofibrosis of the knee resulting from periarticular and intra articular knee fractures and anterior cruciate ligament injury. eight males and 3 females The mean age was 27 years old (range 19- 37 years). The right knee was involved in 7 patients and the left in 4 patients .The mean follow up period was 6.5 months range ( 4 - 8 months).
Results: postoperative evaluation include pain need of support aids ,stability quadriceps strength ,motion and Modified Hospital for Special Suergery Knee Scoring System (MHSS). The results were satisfactory in 8 patients and the improvement of MHSS from 60- 80 preoperative to 80-98 postoperative.
Conclusion: Arthroscopic arthrolysis is a good procedure in management of knee arthrofibrosis in well selected patients with improvement of knee range of motion and MHSS score.
