Abstract
Ovarian carcinoma is one of the most lethal gynecological carcinomas, and the second leading cause of carcinoma-related deaths among women. Although many surgical techniques and chemotherapies have been developed, the prognosis remains poor, with 5- year survival rate of 45%. This study aims to Evaluate the immunohistochemical expression of BRAF and Nrf2 in serous ovarian tumors and the possible role in its diagnosis and correlation with clinicopathological features of the cases.
Material and methods: This retrospective study performed on archived blocks of various categories of serous ovarian tumors. Specimens of 50 cases of benign, borderline and malignant serous ovarian neoplasm. The malignant group was divided in low grade and high grade for comparison. Immunohistochemical staining for Nrf2 and BRAF was performed and their expression was correlated with the clinicopathological features of prognostic importance.
