Abstract
Aim of the study: The aim of the study was to identify the effect of QOL of school age children with dental problems, through identifying: the effect of educational intervention on their QOL of school age children with dental problems. This study was conducting in the class rooms in governmental primary schools of Benha city, the conducted schools were named; Ibn Khaldun, El-Emam Mohamed Abdou, Hoda Shaarawy and Benha modern school. Sample: A convenient sample of 100 students, they were recruited (25 child from each school) from the above sitting. Tools of data collection: were a structured interviewing questionnaire, oral health related quality of life and dental assessment sheet. Results: The findings of the present study revealed that, the mean of children age was (8.58 ± 1.51) and more than half were female and rate of dental caries was found higher among girls than boys. Mean ± SD of DMF was (5.410±1.2878). Meanwhile, 80% of children had unsatisfactory knowledge at the pre-program phase. While, 89% of them had satisfactory knowledge after three months. The study concluded that: The program succeeds in improving QOL of school age and children knowledge regarding oral health, nutrition, dental hygiene, prevention from dental problems. In some areas, the children needs more improvement. After three months of implementing the program the children knowledge was decline but still higher than pre program regarding all items except effect of dental problems on physical and psychological state was improved than pre program. The study recommended: Health education program about dental health for parent and teachers to fill the requirements of school age needs and problems is important.
