Abstract

The complementary DNA (cDNA) micro-array image is considered to be the magic biometric technique for personal identification based on the concurrent identification of millions of genes. In this paper, we present a new method for personal identification based on cDNA micro-array image processing and the Artificial Neural Network (ANN). The image processing techniques have been used to segment the location of the spots in the cDNA micro-array image. Thus, a precise localization and segmentations of spots are essential to obtain a more accurate intensity measurement, leading to a more precise expression measurement of a gene. The segmented cDNA micro-array image is resized and used as an input for the proposed artificial neural network. For matching and recognition the proposed artificial neural network has been trained using 346 images. The recognition results are given for the galleries of Malaria Intraerythrocytic Developmental Cycle comparison Database (MIDCD) of cDNA micro-array images. These results show that, the proposed matching technique is an effective in the cDNA micro-array image process. The proposed technique is an effective personal identification technique.
