Abstract

PLANT PROIECIION RESEARtH INS1ITUTE ,AGRIC. RES. , CENTER,DOKII,EGYPT . FAC. or AGRIC.,MOSHIMOR,ZAGAZIG UNIV.,EGYPT. FAC: OF AGRIC.,AIN SAMS UNIV.,CAIRD,EGYPT . The effect of certain insect growth inhibitors on the biotic potential of the aphii, S. graminum, was carried out after treatment of the aiult stage with different con-centrations. It was noticed that the durations of the 4th instar nymph was prolonged 85 a result of triflumuron application. The same compcandhas affected the adult span insignificantly. As for diflubenzuron, rymphal duration showed, in general, no significant difierences between the treated and untreated. check. The two tEeted concentrations of diflu-benzuron were significantly prolonged the duration of adult life. Also, a signif:!cant reduction was obtained in concern of the mean number tf produced progeny per adult. Cyfluthrin caused signLficanhe reduction in the dura-tion of the third nymphal stage, while decreased aignifi-c.antly the adult span. Al.E), this compound decreased significantly the mean numb?.r of the produced progeny. Owing to the aphid minute size, the high productive potentials and their managemen to withstand the adverse environmental conditions they /ecome4 one of the most serious pests infesting agronomic, hor icultural and ornamental plants.
