Abstract
Copper-Alumina composite was deposited on copper sheet by electrosedimentation method from an acidic bath. The effects of the applied current density as well as the presence of certain additions; gelatin and natural honey on both wet and atmospheric oxidation of the composite at low and high temperatures, respectively, were studied. It has been found that the corrosion rate (wet oxidation) decreases as the applied current density was decreased as well as in presence of gelatin and natural honey. Two mechanisms were observed during the oxidation of composite at high temperature. The first one is observed in case of high applied current density in which the oxidation of composite follows the linear kinetic mechanism. On the other hand, a parabolic kinetic mechanism is involved in case of low applied current density. In all cases the weight gain decreases as the used current density is decreased as well as in the presence of the additions.
