Abstract
ABSTRACT
The present research focuses on pharmacological effects of Jatropi1io curcas extracts on specific biochemical parar*ters In
streptozotocin (STZ).lnduced diabetic rats as compared to ibenclamlde antIdlabetc drug. Diabetes mellitus (OM) was Induced
using STZ (45 mg/ks b.w). J. curcas etracts were orally administered at a dose ci 250 mg/kg/day and glibenclamlcse at a dose of
10 rJlcgJday for 30 days. Creatinlne, urea. intmmatory biomarkers; C.reactive protein (CRP), tuir necrosis factor alpha (TNF.a)
and interlukin.10 (IL.10) levels were measured in rats blood serum. Creatinine, urea, CRP and TNF..a levels were gnificantly
increased in diabetic rats with percentages 01 100. 5333, 136.45 and 78.45%, respectively. However. 11.10 level showed significant
decrease with percentage 39.36%. The results showed that all J. cuvcas extracts have a positive effect against creatinine. urea. CRP
and TNF.a high level bedes, relieving kidney disorders associated with DM. £ curcos could be applied effectively to reduce renal
complications paralleling to OM.
