Abstract
Power frequency (50/60 Hz) magnetic field exposures still draw the attention of many
researchers worldwide to investigate its harmful effects on living bodies. In light of
this attention, as the population increases, the overlap between the power transmission
lines and the settlement areas causes a problem. In this paper, the residential exposure to the power frequency magnetic fields is demonstrated. Two typical houses nearby 500 kV and 220 kV power transmission lines are simulated. The magnetic fields inside these two houses are depicted. The effects of a number of parameters such as, house position, height above the ground and orientation angle, with respect to the power line, are simulated.
