Abstract

Structure makes space. Choice of structure is choice in the character of light. Space between columns is the light of the interior. The architecture of light is expressed as buildings, one oriented to the sun and one oriented to interior living. Form is the inspiration for the design and choice of shape. Light enters the interior, stems from its appreciation that the window, brought of as an element, takes on its own independent nature. Overhangs, brise-soleil are but corrective devices not essentially recognizing the window as an element with its own powers – The window needs its own walls. The servant and served elements give a sense of an aesthetic order coming out of architectural prerogative. Thought of in this way, it could have been of various shapes if the space served its lights demanded by it. The archetype is a court, the pierced walls of which light the spaces with any wall against the light.
