Abstract
In aerospace applications research efforts are focusing on the design of advanced composite materials reinforced with ceramic nano-fillers. Such advanced materialscombine weight saving with multifunctional properties, including thermal, mechanical and electromagnetic ones.In the present investigation, the effect of dispersion of bothmulti-wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and Al2O3 nanoparticles on the mechanical characteristics of epoxy matrix was studied. The results revealed that, themicrohardness, impact energy and flexural strength were improved by dispersion of MWCNTs and Al2O3 nanoparticles. However, the tensile strength wassignificantly reduced by dispersion of the aforementioned nanofillers.
