Abstract
This study deals with the main valleys of southern Sinai Peninsula, namely Wadi Sidri, Wadi Araba El-Saghier, Wadi El-Awage, Wadi Mehash, and Wadi Abu-Gerf.
The study showed an excellent relationship between both the mechanism of both transportation and the grain size parameters. As the uniform and the graded suspension mechanisms are considerably presented, the mean size tends to be finer. Consequently, the improvement of sorting values is achieved indicating the prevailing of a continuous reworking. Additionally, the kurtosis distribution tends to be somewhat unimodal representing a very low-energy environment and very high modification of grain size. On the other hand the prevailing of rolling and suspension mechanisms is accompanied by high mean size values and relatively less improvement of sorting. Also, the kurtosis indicates are generally moderately varied representing a relatively low-energy environment and less modification of grain size. In the soils where the graded suspension, and rolling and suspension mechanisms are equally predominated an intermediate values of mean size and sorting are attained.
