Abstract
El-Qaa plain located at the southern part of Sinai was investigated through an area extending between longitude 33° 15َ west and 33° 45َ east and latitude 25° 5َ south and 28° 25َ north. Aerial photo interpretation was used to study the pedological characteristics of the selected profiles. The aerial photographs of the area under investigation was suggested the presence of four lands types namely, costal plain (C), main plain (P), outwash plain (O), and foot slope (G). the statistical size parameters indicate the presence of stratification and hence immature soils or recent deposition. The mineralogical analyses of sand fraction showed that the dominant light minerals were quartz followed by feldspars, while the dominant heavy ones were pyropoles and epidotes.
In regard to the weathering ratios and ratios of the resistant minerals show clearly that soils under study have a state of stratification and heterogeneity of parent materials. This conclusion may be a result of multi-depositional regimes.
