الملخص
Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an inflammatory disease in which an autoimmune process attacks several tissues and organs including the skin , kidney, and joints .Mechanisms of tissue damage in patients with SLE involve autoantibody and immune complex deposition , as well as infiltration of tissues by lymphocytes .
The IL-17 is produced by several cell types that include CD4⁺ T- cells , CD8⁺ T- cells , CD3⁺CD4⁻CD8⁻ T- cells , γδ T- cells , natural killer cell and neutrophils. IL-17 plays an important role in the immune response against certain pathogens.
IL-17 has pro-inflammatory capacities exerted through its ability to induce secretion of chemokines such as IL-8 , monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1), and growth related oncogene protein-α , which recruit monocytes and neutrophils .
IL-17-producing cells have been implicated in the pathogenesis of a wide range of inflammatory and autoimmune diseases including psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis (RA), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) , systemic sclerosis , and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) .
